Newspaper lives in columns, emotions in italics, borders like fences in a black and white field of flowers with unpronounceable names to an uneducated mind – Yes, my grief is above simple minds,
so joyless in books they’d rather pop corn kernels
and watch movies with beautiful actors with unlined faces, unchipped nails and trained eyes

I saw a lot of poets today polish bullshit with literary dictionaries until they gleamed Of Plath intellect.
I saw a lot of poets today and they were so unlike me.

Hexagons and Squares1. To love is to sacrifice who you are. It is sawing away at your shape, filing away unlovable aspects of your personality until you resemble a form two-dimensional enough to love. Undisciplined women are hexagons – multidimensional wells of depth and shallowness, all contradicting, balancing, uneven. Disciplined women are squares – any shape loveable to a man’s sense of irritating logic. We can be folded in half yet still manage to bounce back in perfectly even halves just in time to cook the dinner.
